3 Days Namib Desert Tour

Tour Details

A visit to one of the oldest desert in the world – the mighty Namib Desert. This desert tour takes you to one of the scenic highlights of the Namib – Sossusvlei. This clay pan, which occasionally fills with water, is enclosed by giant, red-coloured sand dunes, some of which reach a height of 300 meters. One of the most spectacular sights in Namibia, this sea of dunes offers wonderful photographic opportunities.

Itinerary

DAY 1: WINDHOEK TO SESRIEM (Sesriem or similar) (400 Km)

Collection time is between 08:00 and 08:30 from anywhere within Windhoek. Windhoek is surrounded by mountains and we pass first over the Eros Mountains and then over the Khomas Hochland Range. As we come through the mountains we drop down from the central plateau to grassy desert savannah. We stop at Solitaire for petrol and perhaps also afternoon tea. We aim to arrive at our campsite during the late afternoon. We will go on a short excursion to the nearby sand dunes to enjoy the sunset over the dunes and watch the colors glow and change on the mountains before going back for dinner

DAY 2: SESRIEM & SOSSUSVLEI (Sesriem Camping or similar) 

Early start to catch the soft light of sunrise over the desert. After passing through Sesriem we continue towards Sossusvlei with sand dunes rising up along both sides of the road. We will stop at the famous Dune 45.Those who feel fit may climb the dune and get a breath-taking view of the surrounding desert and dunes. After breakfast we will take a desert walk in the cool of the morning, with the opportunity to see gemsboks, springboks, black-backed jackals and ostriches. As the day cools down we will go on a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon.

DAY 3: SESRIEM TO WINDHOEK (350 Km) 

Early start and back to civilization on scenic roads through the Khomas Hochland Mountain Range. We will arrive back in the city in the afternoon, a short city tour before you will be dropped off at your accommodation on our return.

We offer camping and accommodated safaris starting from 3 days to 11 days to Namibia, Botswana, and  Victoria falls. our camping tour packages are more affordable. 
all equipment and tents are supplied , sleeping bags can be rented, all tours leave weekly from windhoek namibia..
 
Included in camping safaris:
Transport, food, camping equipment, except ( sleeping bags) park entrance fee, and the service of a guide.
 
For camping tours, The maximum size is 8 people in each vehicle, plus guide and assistant, with a minimum number of two.
 
CAMPING
Most of the safaris are based on assisted camping., participation is limited to helping with tents only. the tents are spacious and equipped with windows  on 3 sides and mosquito netting on all windows and door.
Comfortable foam mattresses are provided. sleeping bags are available for hire, unless you prefer to bring your own.
 
FOOD
Your guide and assistant will prepare all meals, usually a continental breakfast, a picnic lunch and  a dinner cooked over open fire.
 
ITEMS TO BRING
Soft type duffed bag for luggage or suitcases.
just talk to your consultant: good quality water bottle, comfortable t-shirts and two long sleeved shirts, shorts/skirt/trouser/slacks: Tracksuits
Comfortable walking shoes and good quality socks, swimming costumes, sweater/ anorak/parka for cold evenings, binoculars,personal toiletries, cameras and films plus a good flashlight.
Light rain coats for summer rains ( NOV-APRIL).
 Basic medical kit include Malaria prophylactics, Anti-histamine cream, Aspirins, Elastoplast, sun cream and insect repellent.
 
Luggage = Due to the fact that African snipe tours and safaris operate mobile camping safaris, its imperatives to control the weight and type of luggage transported. for the normal camping tours we prefer soft bags but you can bring more luggage, camera bags etc not to exceed 20 kg.
